2015 isn’t going to be just about romance and jasoosi, it has more to it. It is helmed to be a year of sequels. Yes, a year that will see many sequels taking shape. 2015 officially endorses sequels. Some might see the dawn of release, some might go on the floors and some sequels might just remain mere ideas, bound tightly in cases, never to be opened again. However, for those of you who haven’t yet given it a thought, 2015 is indeed year of sequels. The nastiest films will see the light with its sequels. This post is going to be a shocker for most of you, we know, for it shocked us too, realizing the films that will get a sequel. Nevertheless, the truth can’t be modified, sequelization is the new trend in Bollywood and it is here to stay. Not only the likes of Rohit Shetty wish to make sequels but there are other filmmakers who are keen to cash on this fad. Here’s a shocker list of sequels you can look forward to in 2015.
Welcome back (29th May, 2015)
Welcome back is slated to release in May next year is the film stars Shiney Ahuja alongside the veteran actors, Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal, Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia and Anil Kapoor. The predecessor posed Superstar Akshay Kumar’s mystical touch will be absent in this film as John Abraham is roped in as the lead. Though we do not know how film is going to do with the viewers, we are certain Ahuja has got a good comeback with Welcome Back.
ABCD 2 (26th June, 2015)
Accomplished choreographer-turned-director Prabhu Dheva created a rage with his 3D dance film, ABCD which released in 2013. The director had roped in trained dancers for that film and despite not being actors, the crop of ex-D.I.D-ites had created a magic on big screen. Prabhu Dheva has gone a step ahead with the sequel of the film and has Shraddha Kapoor and Varun Dhawan grooving to the beats. While Shraddha Kapoor plays a hairdresser, Varun Dhawan is seen as waiter in the film.
Anand L. Rai’s Tanu Weds Manu created uproar with its pre-marital affair theme. It endeared us and embroiled us with its saccharine tale. Madhvan’s innocent love and Kangana’s inane dare-devilry was what made the film delightful. With its sequel, Rai bring in a more twisted tale showing the double trouble with Kangana’s character. “The plot is funnier, more twisted, and my cast is having a blast. They will journey through Lucknow, Kanpur, Delhi and parts of Haryana and London too,” says Anand.
This sleaze comedy is back again. The film which initially boasted of the team of Riteish Deshmukh and Tusshar Kapoor has parted ways. Riteish has been replaced by Aftab Shivdasani. The star who was fading away is back in the limelight by signing this much talked about adult comedy. Not only that he is said to have signed 3 more films for Balaji. ‘Superkool, bro!
Ajay Mehra is back with an action packed sequel. While we hardly have the details about the film yet it is said to be a continuation of the 1990 hit film Ghayal. Speaking about this venture, Sunny Deol is quoted to have said to a leading daily, “I cannot talk about it right now, all I can say is that at present, that’s the only film I’m focusing on. I shall discuss the details later. Yes, it will be a continuation. ‘Ghayal’ was made in 1990. ‘Ghayal Returns’ will be about what Ajay Mehra would do in today’s day and age.” We wonder who will reprise the role of dreaded don Balwant Rai made immortal by Amrish Puri?
Rock On, an Indian rock musical film that created sensation with its release will be back with its sequel. Not much is known about the film yet we would like to believe that the crop of actors won’t change. Initially Alia Bhatt was the first choice for the lead but the lady has chosen Udta Punjab over Rock On-2.
No Entry Mein Entry
Bhai will be back with the sequel of the quirky comedy No Entry. The sequel called as No Entry Mein Entry shall pose the same star cast but Salman will be seen in two characters. The filmmakers are busy working on the physical appearance of these two characters.
This franchise helmed by Sajid Khan might have given us migraine but it was nonetheless a laugh riot. The audience demand has been a reason why the franchise flagged of. There are talks about Housefull 3 and if the reports are to be believed, Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh will retain their characters and Abhishek Bachchan along with Jacqueline Fernandez will join the wagon. Speaking about the film, producer Sajid Nadiadwala says, “I’m happy to team up with Eros once more for this very popular series. Housefull 3 will be bigger and funnier and we are confident that together we will once again successfully present some wholesome entertainment to the audience, worldwide.”
2012 release comical satire, OMG: Oh My God!, which was based on a Gujarati play Kanji Virudh Kanji, became an instant hit amongst the audience. The film gained momentum because of the word-of-mouth publicity. Looking at the popularity of the film, there are talks of the sequels which is most likely to release in February 2015.
The film might have given you a migraine but this musical thriller which starred Himesh Reshammiya, Sonali Raut, Zoya Afroz and Honey Singh is all set for a sequel. Speaking about this project, Himesh said, “I’m truly excited for the sequel of The Xpose and happy for my dad, that I have given him a hit franchise as he is the official producer of the film.” The film is most likely to release in May, 2015.
