A quintessential part of Bollywood and every Indian happens to be festivals. One such rich and uber cool festival is the festival of Kites. While the kites of some fly high, some are cut in midst never to be seen again. Some start afresh and some simply let the downfall be. The same theory applies to Bollywood. Kites have actually led to some piping hot controversies. Kites were there at the beginning of it and have probably witnessed the fall as well. But it is admirable that despite many downfalls some celebs have managed to soar high in their life.
Here are some real life moments evoked by kites.
Before we include the film Kites as the foremost in this controversy list, this festival changed the lives of three renowned celebs- Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Salman Khan. What started with Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam didn’t turn out to be a fruitful relationship. Rumour has it that this relationship has soured Salman’s life so much that he wouldn’t ever think of marriage! Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam gave these three celebs all the fame and name they desired. Love did dawn on Salman and Aishwarya’s life but the relation was not to be. It even terribly tore out a part from Salman’s life as it receded.
Hrithik Roshan’s marriage life saw a drastic downfall post his film with Spanish bombshell Barbara Mori. We haven’t yet heard about HR’s philandering ways but the fling with Mori was hyped in the media. There were reports of Suzanne Khan threatening divorce to Hrithik but later the matter was resolved. Looks like the Kites has had bad impression on HR’s life and hence the subsequent divorce.
Kai Po Che literally means that “I have cut the kite”. And amongst the many stars shinning today one happens to be Sushant Singh Rajput. The film Kai Po Che literally changed his life. He cut off the ties with Indian Telly world and took the Bollywood by storm. Kai Po Che led to Shuddh Desi Romance then Pk and now he stars as a lead in biopics based on M.S.Dhoni and Bymokesh Bakshi!
We all are aware of the Rajesh Khanna’s superhit film Kati Patang that starred Asha Parekh alongside Kaka. The film in which Asha Parekh is shown a loner and a widow has to incessantly fight with fate. In real life too Asha Parekh has been a loner. Fate or fame what really meddled with her life is a mystery but she remained unmarried.
Once again the center of attraction for all the controversies Salman Khan came under the scanner of the media as he celebrated the kite festival last year with the then PMO candidate Narendra Modi. Was it a part of PMO’s PR campaign we don’t know but having Salman celebrate the festival of Kites with him was enough to get Modi the much needed votes from Bollywood lovers and Salman Khan fanatics. However, the results of this one PR stunt were stunning and astonishing. Modi became the PM of India while Salman had to face the ire of the religious fundamentalist.
The film Patang released in 2012. Back then we hardly had a whiff of the talent that seared within a low budget film like this. He got to play a pivotal role in the film and later went on to soar high with the films like Kahani. Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s flight certainly took off with Patang and with films like Kick and Badlapur landing in his kitty, he is sure to cut off someone’s kite!
